How do I take a mother tincture?

Mix the drops in a quarter cup of water and take away from meals, ideally 30 minutes before or after food. Avoid strong flavours like mint, coffee, raw onion or garlic for about 30 minutes around each dose.

How soon will I feel a difference?

Recent (acute) complaints often respond within a few days. Long-standing complaints usually need regular use for 4 to 12 weeks. If there is no improvement, or symptoms get worse, consult a homoeopath or doctor.

Is it suitable for children?

Use in children only on a homoeopath's advice, who will set the correct dose.

Does it contain alcohol?

Yes. Like most mother tinctures, it is prepared in an alcohol base (65% v/v), which extracts and preserves the plant's active constituents. Taking the drops in water dilutes it further.

Is it registered with DRAP?

Yes. It carries DRAP E.No. 0016 and Product E.No. 00160068, printed on the pack.

Can I take it with my other medicines?

Homoeopathic medicines are generally used alongside conventional treatment. Keep a gap of about 30 minutes between them, and never stop a prescribed medicine without your doctor's advice.

Can I use it during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Please consult your doctor or homoeopath before using any medicine during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Are there any side effects?

Homoeopathic medicines are generally well tolerated when used as directed. If you notice any unusual reaction, stop use and consult a practitioner.
